Welcome to the Home Education Music Association

Thank you for your interest in our Home Education Music Association (HEMA) Band! We have been in operation for over 10 years, serving the southeast Michigan area. We have paid professional music instructors who provide instruction for homeschool students (and parents) for grades 4th and up. We currently have different levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced. (As a band program, we do not provide instruction for strings or piano.)

Our full school year program runs from September to April or May with rehearsals weekly on Friday afternoons at CrossePointe Church in Wayne and two concerts (usually on weeknights in November or December and April or May.)

Band students need to come with their own instruments, which need to be approved by the Board and/or Conductors. Students need also to provide a music stand and the assigned book.

Outside of our regular rehearsal and concert schedule, students may also participate in music competitions and community service activities.

We are NOT a typical "drop off" homeschool program. Parents are required to stay and help. For parents who are unable to stay, the Board will work out alternate ways to help.

OUR PROGRAM BEGINS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2021, but enrollment is open year around.
